This is not new information, you can pretty much find the same advice on any travel bloggers site. The truth is there are no secrets for cheap flights unless you work for the airlines or have family who work for them. I spend hours looking for flights but I always feel confident that I get the best value for my money.
1. Use The Best flight search engines
Use aggregators to check airfares on many OTA sites (Online Travel Agencies) simultaneously. My favorites are:

• Google Flights
• Kayak
Once you have found the flights of your choice, make sure to double check the price on the website of the airline to ensure you are booking at the lowest price. If the flight is a Non-Us Airline make sure you check in the local language too as sometimes that can make a difference to the price.
Tip: Also, Always, Always check for extra charges like checked luggage, seat selection, credit card payments, etc…
2. Keep track of deals and promotions
Here’s how to keep track of the latest flight deals and promotions:
• Sign-up for newsletters of airlines flying to your favorite destinations
• Monitor frequent flyer forums Flyertalk & Vielvliegertreff & The Flight Deal
• Follow twitter & facebook accounts of travel deal sites (enable notifications!)
Frequent flyer forums like Flyertalk and SecretFlying are generally the first to report amazing travel deals (including error fares). Make sure you familiarize yourself with these sites so you can get the deals at the earliest possible time.
Tip: Use email alerts for your preferred threads / sections on those forums. That way you get the latest deals automatically in your mailbox. For even faster notifications, follow travel deal sites on social media and enable push notifications for their Twitter accounts and Facebook pages
